Aromatherapy for Spring

Welcome spring with the refreshing, relaxing and energizing aromas of essential oils.
Use this all-natural therapy to keep yourself healthy and well in the new season.

Please make sure to always use 100%pure essential oils.

1. Spring Cleaning & Aromatize your home

Greet the new season by giving your home a spring-cleaning.
By using essential oils you are not only creating an all natural cleaning product but are enhancing your mood and reducing your stress with every inhale at the same time.
For an all-purpose, all natural cleaning spray use

  • 2 cups of water
  • either 4 teaspoons castile soap (e.g. Dr. Bronner’s)
    OR ¼ cup distilled vinegar
  • 10 drops Lemon essential oil
  • 10 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 6 drops of Peppermint essential oil
  • 4 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil

Shake well before use. Keep off treated wood products and fabrics to avoid staining. As with all cleaning products keep away from children, and out of your eyes.

To bring the soothing scent of lavender into your bathroom, place a few drops on the inside of your toilet paper roll.

To keep your bedroom fragrant and our sheets fresh in between washes, fill a spray bottle with water and lavender essential oil (4 oz. water, 48 drops of essential oil), shake well and spray over your sheets when making your bed in the morning and before going to bed at night.

2. Natural Aromatherapy Insect Repellent Spray

The increased amount of daylight and sunshine entice us to spend more time outdoors. To protect yourself from bugs, prepare your own all-natural aromatherapy insect repellent spray.

Directions:

  • Fill ¾ of 4 oz. glass bottle with distilled water.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of witch hazel,
  • 1 teaspoon of vodka (preservative),
  • 10 drops Lemon-Eucalyptus essential oil,
  • 10 drops Citronella essential oil,
  • 10 drops Eucalyptus essential oil,
  • 10 drops Lavender essential oil.

Please note: Before each use, shake bottle well. Spray away from face. To apply on face, spray into hands then close your eyes and apply on your face, leaving generous space around your eyes.  Do not use on children under 3 years old or very sensitive skin. Re-apply every couple of hours or as needed.

3. Get relief from spring allergies

When spring makes your eyes and nose itchy, you feel congested or headachy, try using aromatherapy to ease your symptoms.

Inhale the following essential oils either by placing a few drops on a tissue, aromatherapy diffuser (about 10 drops), or by steam inhalation.
(To prepare a steam inhalation, boil some water, get a heat resistant bowl, a towel and some tissues. Now put about 3 drops of essential oils into the bowl, set the bowl onto a heat resistant surface, let the water cool down slightly after boiling and then pour the water into the bowl. Immediately sit down in front of the bowl, close your eyes, place the towel over your head and shoulders and place your face over the bowl to inhale the healing properties of the essential oils for about 3 minutes.)

  • Lavender
  • Roman Chamomile
  • Lemon – great combination with Lavender, enhances the properties
  • Peppermint
  • Eucalyptus

To ease itchy eyes
Blend about 6 drops of roman chamomile essential oil with 1 ounce of water. You may use a spray bottle, shake well and then spray on two cotton pads, or use a small bowl, blend with a cotton swab and dunk cotton pads in blend. Place cotton pads over closed eyes a few times per day or as needed.

To ease congestion
Place a drop of lavender oil (only oil you may use without dilution) on each tip of your index fingers and gently massage the oil around your nose and temples, making sure to avoid the area around the eyes.

Wishing you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, and wonderful springtime!

Fondly,

Tanja
