P1020402Many blessings to you on Thanksgiving and always!

With my heartfelt gratitude to you cherished reader, valued client, friend or family, for your loyalty, kindness, care and support!

Thanksgiving is a holiday to remind us of all the abundance and beauty in our lives, our relationships, loved ones, animal companions, home, food, warmth and kindness that surround us. While it is a wonderful day to be grateful, I would like to encourage you to not only give thanks on Thanksgiving but to feel gratitude from your heart every day of your beautiful life.

The yoga sutras, compiled around 400 CE by Ptañjali, state in Sutra 2.33 that when your mind is disturbed by negative thought, opposite (positive) thoughts should be thought of. By changing our point of view, our environment or sometimes just by taking a few conscious deep breath, we can reframe our thoughts.

Developing an attitude of gratitude helps us in this tremendously by seeing the positive in all situations. That is of course not always conceivable or desired but it can help us to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Instead of taking on the role of the victim, we look for the good. For example: you work for a company and one day get a new boss with whom you don’t seem to get along. Here are your options: You could fall into the victim roll and feel sorry for yourself and ask why this is happening to you, or you could look into quitting this job to do what you always wanted to do in your life and be grateful for this person to provide you with the extra little push that you needed to change your life for the better.

We are aware of the fact that thinking bad thoughts or feeling bad emotions isn’t beneficial for our health, so by turning them around and thinking positively we change our emotions and boost our health and wellbeing. An additional benefit is that according to the Law of Attraction we attract more of what we focus on. As we allow gratitude to become our state of awareness it automatically expands and invites us to embrace every new day.

What are you grateful for in this moment?
